Organisations and teams develop new capability through successful delivery, as well as through training programmes. My focus is on the former, with learning a by-product of strategic excellence.

Successful teams have clarity of direction, an instinctive awareness of risk and opportunity, capacity for reflection on past performance, well-defined roles and accountabilities, integration of individuals’ efforts into collective responsibility, and established mechanisms for measuring their progress and refining their execution.

Project Delivery

My consulting work is underpinned by the belief that changing circumstances and changing aspirations require us to change our minds. New clients and new projects come about because of the desire to change something - to take advantage of an emerging opportunity, resolve an organisational tension or risk, or to embark on a new strategic direction.

I help manage the conversation as leaders think the challenge through and begin to engage others. Good facilitation gets us a long way, and whilst managing these conversations I introduce ways of diagnosing the situation, re-framing the challenge, and integrating diverse aspects into a coordinated approach:

  • Conceptual frameworks for hearing and seeing patterns between all of the different elements

  • Identifying where we should focus our attention

  • Getting to work on things which are stuck and will otherwise hold us back

  • Managing resistance to change, and developing shared commitment to new directions

  • Overcoming organisational boundaries, planning pathways of action, and engaging others
